For a really long time, I have this idea of a "catch and cook" at the seaside. As mentioned in a previous blog, if you are counting on a fish being caught, take a geniune fisherman with you. That person for me is my caveman friend Ruhan and we went for a day outing to Shark Point on a "catch and cook" mission.
It's been a while since we had time to go on an adventure outing like this, so we are really looking forward to this !
Ruhan is taking the fishing gear and myself is catering for the food prep, drinks and snacks.
It's a beautiful morning when we set foot from the parkinglot in St Francis.
Getting some red bait to catch a fish, is our first priority.
While Ruhan got red bait from the rocks, I saw some nice size black mussels and collected a few for a possible starter or side dish.
We continued to the spot Ruhan had in mind to fish. On arrival, I made us coffee to have with some biltong. When Ruhan started fishing, I boiled the black mussels so long.
They where just done when I saw Ruhan's fishing rod bending vigorously. Fish-on !!
He landed this very nice Galleon, a perfect fish for catch and cook on the rocks.
Ruhan continued fishing, but I set of to start prepping a spot we eyed on the way there, that had close proximity to firewood and were well sooted for a fish braai on the rocks.
